Last moment

Continue from last post..

As soon as we collected the medication pills and bottles, we left the building without delay to our car.

With a huge relief, we walked back towards our car in the parking lot. On the way to the car, we debated whether to inform dad about Mui Leng's check-up result which turned up to be pretty good albeit there was slight problem. The doctor in HUKM really eased our worries of the day. I said with a liltle grin that we should not inform my dad as to purposely let him worry a bit as a teasing.

On the exact moment, while we were walking on the park on our way to the car, my mom's phone ringed and to her suprise and our bewilderment, it was dad. Mom told him a summarized true version of the whole bit of the story in a lightweight tone, instead of my suggested conjured-up, to-make-him-worry story. On my mother's expression, I could tell that my dad was also relieved and quite content for the day.

We all thought so without a tinge of hint of what would befall us after that.

It was quite a hot afternoon then and we were basked in sweltering heat.

In the car, we pondered where to head for lunch and quickly the restaurant selling Hakka mee distantly opposite the Steven's corner came to mind. It had been a lunch place we quite frequent. Conveniently, the restaurant was located the Proton branch where I had earlier placed booking for the blm, we wanted to ask for update on the arrival of my blm. Each time when we were in our small car, she would always anxiuosly ask me when my car would arrive, then I would reply "soon". The car really had taken such a long time to arrive. Understandable. I could not wait too not because of me, I couldn't wait any longer as I was dying to bring my beloved sister here and there, to explore, to our contentment.

When we heard a nice song being played on the radio in the car, she would quickly quizzed what was the song being played. Then we would start our random discussion on what nice songs we had listened and I would say something like downloading them into the MP3 player. She always listened to her MP3 player on her daily LRT commute to work and back home. I was the one who download her favorite songs into her MP3 player so she would not be bored on her way to work.

I recalled that before her trip to Langkawi, she had asked me to save the Marie Digby songs to her MP3 since I had told her earlier that I had downloaded her favorite songs. However, I declined to save the songs for her as that time she asked me, I was too busy working on my asignments from my office work. I told her may be next time as it would take quite a long time for saving into her MP3s. Never have I expected that even up to the point of her passing away, I still have not saved the songs into her MP3s.

We ate our Hakka mee. I ordered "chum" for drink. She ordered "chin chau". She asked what was my drink. It looked interesting to her and she asked whether she could take a sip and I said just go ahead. She took a sip, and we just had a tiny great moment together.

Later we went to the Proton enquiry and also went to have some look on some dance school nearby. Managed to get contact no. printed on their advetised board. We had actually talked about joining dancing lessons together as we always had no time. Once she quits her job as a promoter, and I make myself available, we pledged that we would do something like taking courses respectively. May be she would take sewing lessons or fashion design course, as fashion had always been her passion. I told her I afford to pay for her sewing lesson fees but for the fasion design course, may be I could afford for elementary stage only.

As we were discussing about her health like eating more veges and fruit, and exercising more, she finally told me that she wanted to go jogging with me to get healthy. Boy, I was so overwhelmed when I heard that.

Later, we went back home for rest. Approximately one hour later, the worst took place.

To be continued....

Tragic

Dear Readers,

Please be informed that she rests in peace at SS-J-3F10, Nirvana Memorial Park. Her resting place is inside the big dragon. You are all welcome to visit her there. Thanks a trillion for all her friends who have travelled far to visit her and also to those who will visit her in the future.

As a request from me, if you are her friend, please add her in friendster. Her e-mail address is fionmuileng@yahoo.com

If you guys have any writing and photo contribution to this blog, please do so by e-mail them to me at romernchong@gmail.com

Sorry guys, I am quite busy nowadays as I still need to do something for my beloved sister. My family and I still need to do all the necessary Buddhist rituals, chanting and prayers for her.

Although it should not be an excuse, I will try to blog as frequently as possible to remember her. Besides that, I will start to work on Monday (9th June 2008). As such, I will attend all you guys' queries one by one, and I may take some time to post your writings and photos (if there are) you guys forwarded to me. I thank you guys in advance.

I cannot afford to ask you guys to do so much of stuffs for her (like visiting her). Really thanks a million for those who have helped us (family) to go through this. Thanks also for realizing Mui Leng's dreams (to be her friends). Remember guys, LOVE conquers all.

Many of her firends sms-ed me to ask me about how she passed away?

I want to assure you all that she passed away peacefully.

I did not expect so many of her friends to turn up to pay her a last respect at the Kwang Tung Cemetry Centre. My family and I were really overwhelmed that night. I only sms-ed all her friends in her handphone records, 60 of them, I have only expected few of them to turn up. Sorry if I say this and offend alot of you guys.

That night 1st of June 2008, I saw many of you guys turned up, paid her last respects, some even teary (cried), and comfort us (family). We were really overwhelmed. Sorry if that day I might have said something wrong, or did not entertain you.

The story:

1st of June 2008, was the date when my beloved sister passed away.

She went to Langkawi with her friends (Yew Choong & friends) on 20th to 23rd May 2008.

The day before 1st of June 2008, 31st May 2008, we (my sister and I, her second brother) did go out to Times Square to watch Narnia: Prince Caspian. On last the Friday (30th May 2008), she also went out with her friends (June and Pei Ling). That Friday itself, I was working, I only saw her for about one to two hours after work when I came back home.

I have heard of her pain in the last two weeks of May. Sometimes, she would tell me about her pain (back pain in the right hand side of her body, where the bottom of the right lung located). Last six years, she had been admitted into HUKM before. After she recovered and released from the hospital, the doctor had said that she would recover and would not have the Pneumonia (Lung infection) attack again! The pain at her back after the 2002 incident was normal. We thought the pain was normal. (More details in the later posts).

I will give an account on what happened on 30th and 31st of May 2008 in other posts too.

Morning 1st of June 2008:

Upon hearing about her pain the night before, in the morning, I had woke up but was still half-awake on my bed. My dad opened my bedroom door, and said (in Cantonese), "Please accompany your mother to bring your sister for check-up in HUKM".

I replied, "Ok". We got ready and headed for HUKM. The traffic that day was light. We got there in 20 minutes.

We asked around where was the Pusat Perubatan of HUKM. We walked to the entrance of a building on the left wing. Mui Leng was walking weakly, holding onto the taxi-stand railing, with her right hand on her painful spot, then I asked her whether she was OK, she said she can still walk on. She asked me to bear her bag and I obliged. We then walked slowly to the entrance. I asked the receptionist where should we go. The receptionist then told me we need areference letter from a doctor of an otide clinic to visit HUKM for treatment. I abrupty retrieved and showed him my sis' past HUKM record card, then he said we can proceed directly to the Pusat Perubatan at the further back.

We then walked to a park in HUKM coompund to wait for our mom. While we waited for my mom to park her car at the parking lot, I asked my sis to sit on the bench with me, she obeyed obidiently. She was so sweet. We were sitting on the bench quietly and I really enjoyed her company, just sitting on the banch quietly.

When our mom came, we walked to the Pusat Perubatan. At the registration counter, we registered ourselves and quickly proceeded to the check-up room. Her urine was examined.

We then settled on our seats in front of the pharmacy counter to wait for her turn to see the doctor. When reached our turn, we met her doctor and the doctor did some testing (like temperature) on her. We explained laboriously about her pain at the back (like it was similar to her past pain). Then, she was requested for X-ray for more detail.

We explained her pain as serious as possible. The doctor kept looking at her check-up report and the urine test result. The doctor simply explained that she just had some bacteria infection at her urinals and may be at her kidney.

After her X-ray, the doctor viewed at her X-ray result on the computer screen. The X-ray picture was quite small in the screen. I wondered why he could not enlarge the view. The siren blasted in the background.

The doctor, he was aparently called for some emergency, I believe both emergency and the frontline check-up share the same doctors. Talk about inadequacy of doctors in the hospital.

We waited for him about 30 minutes as he said he would be return to us later.

********

After a while, he returned and kept staring at the screen with my sis' X-ray result again. I saw some white spot on the bottom of her right side lung (in the screen, t showed up on the left). The doctor pondered quite long. He had heard all our explanation from my sis, my mom and I. He later said that the white spot (which was quite small) was her scar left from last pneumonia attack. Nothing to worry about. I asked him, "Are you sure?, Positive?". He nodded and said yes. He even told us later that the pain at her back might be caused by the urinal infection. The infection might somehow affect her past pain from her right lung to pain. Ok, I believed him since he was the emergency doctor, he must be a very good doctor. I was not blaming him on this, but I really think he tried his best to diagnose/sort my sis problem.

He had also asked whether she had fever or difficulty in breathing. Unfortunately, she had none of these. Few days before, she did not have too. But she had some fever sometimes. She also had headache the day before (which she told me she suspected was tumor the day before during our outing). We told all these to our doctor.

All the doctor said was because of the urinal infection. He did say the infection might be caused when she urine (which was not the rel case).

I did try to convince him that it might be caused by the Pneumonia. He then only willed and said we might come for other check-up (ultrasound & tiny camera insertion through the food tract).

We silently obliged. My sister at the time was really relieved. We thought it might be only some infection and since the doctor reassured us nothing serious, we heaved a huge relief. After received doctor's prescription, we collected the doctor prescribed medication and left the HUKM with peace in mind.

To be continued.... (Next account: she passed away peacefully later in the evening at Hospital Ampang).

It's 1:07am, I will blog some other time. Thanks for listening.

Regards,
Her brother.

Happy 22nd Birthday, Sis!

Date: 5th June 2008

Dearest Mui Leng,

Today is your 22nd birthday! So, I wish you a happy birthday!

Although you have left me, I will always remember you. The joy and misery that we share.

You will always be my most beloved sister. My heart goes to you. I love you.

Love,

Chun Mun (your brother)

Dearest Readers,

I had promised on this day, her birthday, to bring her to the Gasoline Restaurant at the Ampang lookout Point. I always like places at high ground. I just wish that to bring her to this special place, she can enjoy the view while enjoying her meal. She has never been there.

Although now I do not have a chance to celebrate her special birthday, I will always put her as my No. 1. This birthday, I dedicate all my love to her.

I has asked her whether she does like to go celebrate her birthday there. She said "yes". She was not that kind that is very choosy. She's very linient. Everything I proposed, she would say "ok" without any hesitation. That's one of the character I like most.

She was bornt on 5th of June 1986. Each year after that, the birthday always coincides with the Agong birthday. That's why my dad always said in Cantonese, she is a King's daughter. We (family) always treat her like a king on this very special day.

We celebrated her 21st birthday very privately at home. Only our family was involved. We first in the afternoon went out to shpping mall, after a sumptious dinner, we went to the Secret's Recipe to buy a banana chocolate cake for her celebration. Chocolate is her favorite taste. Since my mom likes banana flavor, we chose the banana chocolate flavored cake.

From the 21st birthday photos, I can tell from her facial expression that she was truly realy happy. I took my new camera and snapped many pitures. She nudged me to take her pictures at many angles as possible. We did manage to take a family picture with her cake too by using me camera auto-function, She was so content. I love her so much.

Let's remember this special day as her birthday.

Regards,
Chun Mun
